Day 93: Celebration at the St. Regis

I woke up in South Carolina on Day 93 and really wanted to take an aerobics class with my mother as the thing I'd never done before. She had other plans, however, and couldn't commit to it, but fingers crossed, that will happen before this year is over. I know it will be a hilarious adventure worth writing about.

Instead, I headed back to Atlanta and went to the St. Regis hotel for my friend Kyle's 30th birthday party celebration as the Day 93 thing I've never done before.

The St. Regis is a beautiful hotel in Buckhead. The hotel and bar are gorgeous. Lots of dark wood and comfortable chairs. There is an outside patio at the bar with a fireplace which was gorgeous too. We had some drinks, talked about our holidays and celebrated the start of Kyle's 30th year.

I felt badly for the waitresses who had to wear what was the equivalent of a turquoise potato sack as their uniform. Beautiful girls working in a beautiful hotel wearing a sad little dress. I wondered if their tips are hurt because of their inability to show skin.

I read a review of the St. Regis and it said it was great for "cougar-hunting." I don't know if I agree with that (at what age does a woman become a cougar anyway? I'm not old enough to be a cougar, right?), but there is a lot of really great people watching.

My personality and my checkbook tends to lean more towards dive bars with draught beers, but going classy every once in a while is fun too. There was a part of me that felt like we were little kids playing dress up, but I definitely hope to go back to the St. Regis.
