I stumbled upon your blog when looking up things about dragoncon, which is in 2 weeks. I am a 17 year old girl, a senior high school-er in Orlando. I'm going to my second year of dragoncon with my mom. I started attending cons when I was a freshman- my first was in Orlando, called megacon (about 1/4th the size of dragon). When I went, I was in awe- I KNEW I found my niche, my family, my people. I'd always been super creative, into nerdy things, and didn't have a ton of friends. Going to cons exposes you to people with similar interests, celebrities, and of course, the costumes (cosplay). I always loved halloween, but this was something... more. Bigger, more fantastic, and definitely harder to accomplish. I have easily spent over $600 on costumes in the past 4 years! Honestly, you feel so good when in costume. All my life, I've been an average looking girl that people just see and walk by. When I go to cons, and I'm wearing a spandex superhero suit, EVERYONE looks- and it feels so amazing. It's like for once in your life, eyes are on you (in a good way)! Putting on my super hero mask lets out a different person for the weekend. I'm not crazy, I'm not a freak- there's just a part of me that hasn't grown up. There are people who are 80 years old at cons who are exactly the same. They're just a great place to meet new friends, and maybe even meet "the one!" I will be going to cons until the day I die. Some people like to sit in a stadium and watch football- others like to put on their thigh high boots and be catwoman for the weekend. It's whatever floats your boat :)Kaleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12065544084863000637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7709987901703080590.post-10169728103835696802011-04-12T14:43:19.792-04:002011-04-12T14:43:19.792-04:00Hello.
